MSG Allergy
Most people expierence these allergies after eating Asian food which is cooked using MSG. After eating Asian food the most common symtoms are flushing, mild shortness of breath, and chest tightness. These symtoms are mild and subside fairly quickly but still causes people to avoid Asian food. These reactions to MSG are now call "MSG Symtom Complex" though they used to be called "Chinese Resturaunt Syndrome". MSG is not only found in Chinese food though, it is found naturally in several foods which is whyn they changed the name. Other symtoms of "MSG Symtom Complex" are numbness and tingling of the arms and neck, palpitations, and drowsiness. As well as heasdaches, nausea, chest pain, and worsening asthma symtoms. All of these symtoms are also very mild and are short lived. Scientific studies have been unable to prove that "MSG Symtom Complex" actually exists. People in fact have had these symtoms but when they were given a large amount of just MSG their symtoms do not increase significantly and when these amount were given with food the symtoms were almost non-existant. They were also unable to prove if MSG increase symtoms of asthma, eczema, urticaria, and non-allergic rhinits. Poeple say that they have expierienced symtoms of these medical conditions after intaking MSG. They also say that once they removed MSG from their diet their symtoms lessend. It is recommended that if you think you are having a reaction to MSG to check with your doctor to see if theres another explanation for you symtoms.
